FOR USED PLATENS. Gooseneck Hold Down Dog. This is the original hold down device for Platens. Slightly smaller 1-3/8″ diameter solid steel bar, to fit smaller square holes typical of older Used Platens. This Tool acts as if it is a giant, spring-loaded clamp. It provides simple, fast, and secure clamping. And relatively simple unclamping. Simply drop the long, straight end into a square hole and bring the flattened end onto your work piece for clamping. (You might need to try a couple of square holes to get the distance right). Hammer down on the top of the bend (NOTE: you will not need to hammer it too much or too hard!) and your work piece will be securely clamped down. To remove it, simply pull up gently at the top of the bend while simultaneously tapping the vertical part coming up out of the square hole. It will release with a simple tap, and you’ll find yourself lifting the clamp right out of the Platen. You should never need to beat on the Gooseneck Dog to either install or remove.
